The Moore Bills first 2014 video of the season. An action filled trip to the Baltimore Canyon producing 17 nice size yellowfin tuna totaling 914lb averaging 53lb a piece . 6 anglers enjoy a day at sea with boat owner Shane Moore.
4:30am: Locked and loaded with the usual variety of fried chicken, random sandwiches and a cooler stocked with cans of luck, our crew woke to warm breezes and diesel in the air. With cameras loaded we blazed through the inlet on our to find the fish. Arriving in record time our Junior angler watches eagerly as ballyhoo and spreader bars line the deck. A flurry of color makes its way to the spread filling the sky with stripes of mono flaring in the morning sun. "Fish On !" and a scurry to get our youngest angler Cole set up in the fighting chair. A quick pull knocks the dust off and puts Coles first tuna in the books. With sunshine overhead and Captain Rob nonchalantly eating a half pealed banana sporting a cross between the hat from Crocodile Dundee and something my grandmother wore in the early 40's the banter begins. Next Video As we made our way south of the Baltimore Canyon (220 Line) Tuxedo dolphins were spotted busting the wake than an explosion of sound as each real, one by one started screaming. Belts and beads of sweat filled the deck as we tugged 6 out of 7 heavy yellowfin tuna to the boat. Angles playing leapfrog as these monsters had a mind of their own! One after the other these beauties made it into the box. With enough time to put down 3 bites of ham and cheese it was "On" again! More fish than anglers this time. Cole was set for his first big pull. Strapped in and reeling his heart out, father and friends worked on the remaining 7 fish. With determination and direction from the top deck, each made it to the box with yelps and cheer for the young man with a plan to boast on the playground! A couple quick photos and back in for some cold air and world cup action on the big screen. After 15 minuets of realizing the soccer was probably the most boring sport on earth the reels started screaming louder than any soccer hooligan! Hooked up again, this time almost a full cover-up. With the box full already, tuna filled the deck with pools of blood and anglers speckled with crimson tie-dye. We returned home with the high hook and placed some friendly wagers on the total weight. Incredible day with Captain Rob and Steve.
